Laurie Bond had started making cars at Preston in Northern England in 1949 with the three-wheeled Bond Minicar. By the 1960s the demand for such cars was much reduced and he added a more conventional four-wheel car to his range. This was the Bond Equipe, a sporty looking coupe based on a Triumph Herald chassis and running gear but using the higher performance Triumph Spitfire engine with a 9:1 compression ratio and twin SU carburettors.
