The second generation Model A – designed by Edsel Ford, began production in late 1927 after the Model T assembly line had been re tooled. More sophisticated and elegant than previous models, the ‘A’ cost $385 and had exceptional fuel economy – achieving nearly 40 miles per gallon. Powered by an L- Head 4 cylinder motor and with a three speed sliding gear transmission, this car boasted a top speed of over 60mph. It was a tough, durable machine that was very easy to fix and a good number have survived.
