In its time, Packard, Peerless and Pierce-Arrow were the main competitors for Locomobile. To gain a lead on these, Locomobile decided to compete on the basis of quality, and limited production to just four cars a day. Each chassis was road tested several hundred times and they forged their own parts from steel, bronze and aluminium.
