The display car was bought new in London by a Wellington banker and shipped to New Zealand for his daughters' use. It was subsequently sold to a Canterbury farmer and remained on the farm until 1958, when it was acquired and restored by Christchurch enthusiast Bob Scott. His first outing with the car was at the Dunedin to Brighton veteran car run in 1970.

The museum bought this rare survivor to ensure it remained in New Zealand.
