2019 World of WearableArt Exhibition

World of WearableArt & Classic Car Museum

For over 30 years, the World of WearableArt Awards Show has amazed audiences with its magic and ingenuity. What began as a small but wildly wonderful design competition has become a theatrical spectacle and a magnet for talent from around the world. Each year garments from the World of WearableArt Competition and Awards Show return to World of WearableArt’s Headquarters in Nelson, direct from the stage, and are showcased at the World of WearableArt & Classic Car Museum.

The 2019 World of WearableArt Exhibition features more than 50 stunning creations from designers from around the world.  This up close experience enables you to truly appreciate the skill and craftmanship that goes into creating these stunning works of wearable art.

At the heart of World of WearableArt is the Competition that attracts international attention from designers from over 40 countries each year. The Competition is open to anyone, as long as they can meet the challenge to create a piece of wearable art that is original, innovative and truly exceptional. The exhibition displays the garments to reflect the 2019 Competition sections, the worlds in which these garments are bought to life on stage at the show. Every year three worlds remain constant, Avant-garde, Open and Aotearoa, while three new worlds are introduced for the 2019 Competition: White, Mythology & Transform.

The 2019 World of WearableArt Exhibition opens from Friday 29 November and features a selection of finalist garments from the 2019 World of WearableArt Awards Show, which must be seen up close to truly appreciate the concept behind this extraordinary wearable art.
